Over the years, all over the world, airlines have been modernizing and improvising upon the infrastructure and services. In addition to the conventional method of checking- in for your flight at the airport, you can also check- in for your flight in advance with the help of your mobile devices like cell phones and laptops. Thought electronic check- in is becoming increasingly popular, in some cases you may still want to check- in traditionally at the Detroit airport. You may be travelling with excess luggage, with a small child or you may be flying to some other country.

In such cases physical check- in may be preferred by some people. For checking –in, you should keep your ticket and your identification document ready so that you can present it to anyone who asks for it. Your identification and your check- in luggage along with your ticket should be with you, in person at all times. Make sure that you carry some copies of your ticket and your ID, so that you have a back- up in case you lose something. This will also ensure that you do not waste your time as well as the time of the people who are standing behind you in the queue at check- in counter. There are two ways you can check in at the Detroit airport:-

Check- in at the airline counter- After arriving at the airport, you will head to the counter of the airline that you are flying with. The staff of the airline will ask you for the copy of the ticket along with some form of identification. Identification may be in the form of your passport or driver’s license.

After confirming your identification, the staff member of the airline will give you the boarding pass along with the information regarding the gate from which the flight will be boarding and the departure time. Any change in the departure time should also be notified by the airline staff only. Now, many airlines have self- help kiosks at the airport, where you can print your boarding pass yourself. If you are carrying any fragile or precious items, you can inform the staff about the same. They will help you by marking your belonging as” fragile” which will then be handled with care by the airline staff members.

Curbside check- in- To avoid long line during rush hours or to simplify the process in general, some airlines offer the option of curbside check- in. It means that there are porters at the gate of the airport with whom you can leave your luggage. It will be a good gesture on your part to tip the porter who is managing your luggage. The baggage tags and your boarding pass will be handed over to you. For any information regarding the time of departure of flight and the gate for boarding, you can refer to one of the numerous digital displays that are present at the airport.
